Tanton’s Dots is a new and innovative place value board game as a hands-on model that introduces the Australian-American mathematician James Tanton’s Exploding Dots method made popular worldwide through the Global Math Project.
Using only two rules – one for the corresponding place value system and the other for negative numbers – mathematical processes are represented in an illustrative and playful way. From the basic arithmetic operations of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing to polynomial division and more, Tanton’s Dots engages all levels of learners as they explore and develop their understanding of place value, numeracy, and algebra.
