Introducing the 10-omat!
The 10-omat can be thought of as a decimal clock which provides a visual representation of the numbers from 0 to 99. It can also be used as a mechanical calculator.
How it works: Students can use the 10-omat to count, add, and subtract. When the ‘ones’ hand is moved clockwise or counterclockwise over 9, the ‘tens’ hand jumps ahead or back accordingly, helping them to understand our counting and place value system and the ‘magic’ of 10.
